Sunday’s Ride

Sunday, May 5, 2019

After a week of not being able to ride due to seriously inclement weather and the sickness of the boy, Sunday was the perfect day to get back on the bike.

Last week, I’d met up with a church member who suggested riding across 146th Street from Hazel Dell, so I decided to give it a try. South from home to 146th, then east to River Road. There’s a fine riding trail along River Road until you reach the housing additions south of Conner Prairie’s property, where you get to take a winding trail through the woods and into a park area (Hamilton County Park #1 for the week).

The furthest south part of River Road was on the road instead of trail, which was a little concerning due to the traffic on a very narrow road, but it did not present a problem. At 116th Street, I turned west for a very short distance to Hazel Dell Road. I meandered a little through Founders’ Park (Hamilton County Park #2), then traveled north on Hazel Dell, all the way back home.

My 25-mile ride was the longest ride I’ve had in a very long time (ever?).
I was sore — quite sore! — but it’s a great sense of accomplishment!

Things to note:
The hill up to Cherry Tree road — that was some hard work!
River Road park has a kayak/canoe launch — something to try out.
Average speed, 13.3mph.

Can you see the art in the center of the roundabout? Cyclists!

It’s me

I used to blog. I blogged a lot of really cute pictures of my kids.

Then a crazy person used photos of the little one to promote his weird (fake) story of a kid with cancer and a dead wife and a bunch of weird stuff and I got invited into the world of scams and 20/20 and whatnot. Then Facebook came along and my blog vanished from the interwebz.

Now I’m cycling. And writing a blog, apparently. I’m going to write about things I see when I’m out biking. Great stories from the trails. Maps of my rides.

But I also sew. And I might also show sewing projects that I’m working on. Because that’s how I roll.
